"PROFAS" Autumn 2008

The Contest mission is to inspire and educate young people studying in universities to experience free enterprise, understand business and economics, and develop entrepreneurial and leadership skills in order to increase the quality of their social life.

Contest structure

There are 3 phases:

  1. Registration of participants
  2. Selection of participants (managerial - economic task valuation)
  3. 2-day Main Contest Event "Choose to be in Business"

Registration

All teams who are willing to take part in the Contest shall fill in a registration form about themselves till 22th of October. The registration is now over.

Task I and Determination of Finalists

The first task of PROFAS Autumn 2008 will be sent by e-mail to team captains shortly after the deadline of the initial registration. The task will capture your understanding of communication as one of the main consumers‘ needs ant its influence to various businesses.
The task solutions proposals (no more than 700 words, PDF format) should be posted to the submission form on this website no later than 5th of November, 2008. Your solution proposals will be evaluated by the special Jury, whose members are presented on the website. The main criteria used to will be provided for teams together with the Task I.

Main Contest Event "Choose to be in Business"

Invited finalists (12 teams) will be asked to re-confirm their acceptance of a finalist position as soon as possible, and no later than 48 hours after the email notification of acceptance. Teams will be invited to take part in the final 2 days Contest event. The event will be held in Vilnius on 4-5 of December, 2008.
On the first day finalists will take part in a business simulation. Teams will be evaluated on specific criteria based on simulation goals and their successful implementation.
On the second day finalist teams will be asked to solve a business case and present solutions to respectable companies' executives and professional economists. During presentation, the jury will make their assessment of your solutions based on the economic rationale and team presentation skills. Final sessions will run from mid-day till 5pm. Each session will comprise of three teams. Each team will have 5 minutes to present each of their solutions. After every session, the jury will have a right to question the teams for 10 minutes.
The overall results (business simulation & cases) will be announced after all the sessions, and the best team will be awarded a special prize.
The event will be opened by consultation company TMD Partners consultant Darius Pietaris motivational speech.

Eligibility

In order to participate in the contest, teams of 2-3 students from any European University shall be formed. There are no limitations discipline- or degree- wise.
All teams members should participate in the final event, in case the team is invited to it.
