What Is It To Be A Professional - Senior Business Executives

 Edis Kasperavičius
Director of human resources at Teo Lt, AB

I suppose that only those who constantly seek to be at the forefront of their professional activities, where the biggest changes take place and those who seek to play a major role in these conditions can become real professionals. It is essential to understand the major role but not the complex work or job functions. This is risky and in case of failure this can cost a lot. The paradox of the experience is the following: you get it as soon as the moment, when you desperately needed it, has just passed…Therefore there is a very simple receipt: one should not be afraid to pay a high price for the experience. Treat it as an investment with secured dividends.

 Aras Valentinavičius
Head of the group of consultants for IT solution services and process management at UAB „Hewlett-Packard“

If a person supposes to have become a “professional”, I assume, he is already dead. Dead not in physical terms, but dead for the society as far as such person lives only for himself, is happy to have reached “nirvana” and is not able to notice the changes going around him. Therefore my receipt would be not to become such a person. Let’s not forget that the only stable thing in the world is change. Maybe in these circumstances we should also treat professionalism as an ability to change and to learn? Are a lot of efforts necessary in order to achieve that? It depends on a person, but nothing has been yet achieved by laziness and coincidence.

 Darius Pietaris
Head of the consultant group „TMD Partners“

Do what you like most.

Learn and improve yourself all life long without even thinking about it.

Follow the best examples of the world, believe, that everything is achievable.

Most important - have in mind that professionalism is not a goal, but only a mean to achieve a goal.

 Aušra Barysienė
Head of marketing at the daily „Verslo žinios“

There is an old saying, according to which a processional is a person, who completes his work well even without thinking about it. In the contemporary world where everything is changing so fast everyday you have to contemplate, doubt and even take a risk. Therefore today I could call a professional a person who knows what he is doing. Not only knowledge and experience are needed in order to become a professional. You also must truly like your job, passionately take interest in novelties and have courage to make mistakes.

 Carlos Brebbia
Consultant at business consultation company „Inscape Baltic“

Professionalism can be defined by a simple rule: finish everything you start to do. Professionalism is an attitude, which should comprise all our activities. It should include work, sports, and relationships. You have to improve yourself constantly. I suppose that one can always improve, learn something new and certainly influence the society in a positive way. We will improve only if we do this together – therefore a real professional thinks not only about himself, but also about the others. A real professionalism requires professionalism from other and develops professionalism around.

Gintautas Butkevičius
Director of retail chain of construction materials „Moki Veži“

A desire to achieve results, to achieve the set goals; you have to be sure about this desire. A strong will and persistence are also necessary. I would describe the establishment and development of the building materials shopping centre ‚MOKI VEŽI“ as both my most interesting and professional project and the biggest professional challenge. This project can be distinguished by its scope. At one time we had to manage many subcontractors, to secure the high quality of their activities and to finish everything on time.

 Mantas Mameniškis
UAB „Hewlett-Packard“

Professional is a person who is wholly devoted for his occupation, conducts his work with passion, attempts to be an engine of progress and knows that the world does not stand in one place.

Each completed work, each implemented project, each resolved problem brings joy and satisfaction. It is most important to feel that your biggest projects are yet to come.

 Andrius Nomeika
Director and owner of UAB Kadabra

Professionalism is a purposeful and consistent movement towards the set goal. We acquire knowledge while learning, which we can apply in our activities, we acquire new experience, then we learn again and thus step by step or jump by jump we approach to the things we want to achieve. It is most important to desire and to believe.

 Mindaugas Žiūkas
Director of UAB Santa Monica Networks

My main life force is a permanent and insatiable aspiration to win and to improve.

And even if you know that you will come across many impediments and that there will always be those who want to overtake you, your persistence will sooner or later pay dividends.

To be a professional means to love your work, to have a feeling that everything you do is the biggest bliss for you and, naturally, necessary for all those around you.

It is also true that one man is no man therefore your team and the right selection of your team only proves your own professionalism.
